The Love List is not supposed to be too serious and mainly a moment for me to express gratitude and appreciate a few things and moments every month. Just like Patrick Kelly who wrote down everything that brings him joy, which inspired me to do the same.

With all that said, here are ten thing that have recently brought me joy and I hope something or someone brings YOU joy today!

1. Gin Gimlet

   I was introduced to a crisp gin gimlet a few months ago and it’s now my go-to drink! Something about it feels nostalgic, probably because my grandmother always drinks gin. I’ve enjoyed broadening my drink options (finally, at 32 years old!) and this feels like a perfect one to take me through summer. I’m still figuring out the best gin brands…any suggestions?

2. Vogue Poland

   I recently had the honor of being featured in Vogue Poland as an archival collector. Moments like these remind me of how grateful I am to spend my days researching, preserving and sharing fashion history. What began as a personal passion continues to open doors I never could have imagined. The feature felt especially meaningful because my family immigrated from Poland to the United States in the 1800s, making it feel like a small full-circle moment. To be recognized by a publication connected to my family’s roots was both deeply personal and incredibly special. It served as a reminder of how our histories travel with us and how unexpected it can be to reconnect with them through the work we love.

3. Gainsborough at The Frick

   Few things inspire me more than spending time at The Frick. The current Thomas Gainsborough exhibition is a reminder that elegance never really goes out of style. The portraits, fabrics and attention to detail feel as relevant today as they did centuries ago.

   

4. Mini Orchids

   I have become completely charmed by mini orchids. They are delicate without being precious and somehow make every room feel a little more thoughtful. A small luxury that delivers far more joy than its size would suggest. Pro tip: I like to purchase mine at Whole Foods.

   

5. Rebecca Taylor on The Real Real

   Rebecca Taylor was one of my favorite designers in high school. For every special occasion, I seemed to find my way into one of her pieces. I remember exactly where her “section” was at Neiman Marcus, too. Lately I’ve found myself searching the brand on TRR and it’s become a bit of a time capsule. I’ve even come across pieces I once owned and completely forgot about. Seeing them again feels like reconnecting with a younger version of myself and a reminder that great clothes often carry far more memories than we realize! I had this exact dress!

   

6. Roberto Cavalli Prices Then & Now

   It was peak pandemic, Summer 2020, and I was browsing The Real Real when I decided to purchase a few things as a treat as there wasn’t much else to do. One of items being a stunning Roberto Cavalli dress that was $92 (exclusive of tax and shipping)! I recently found the same dress for over $1,000 on TRR the other day and my jaw dropped. It’s such a perfect example of how vintage prices have skyrocketed. In this case, it went up 10x!! It makes being in my position so interesting because I wonder how the prices can keep going up? Will the pendulum swing and we will see a vintage Cavalli dress for under $100 again?

   

7. Vintage Roxy

   I’m not sure what led me here, but I was thinking about my first internet purchase ever (like, ever) which was a pink Roxy, Hawaiian print rolling suitcase. It was the first time my Dad ever let me use his credit card and it became a moment that imprinted my brain. Roxy was THE brand for young girls and I’m sure I saw this suitcase on Zoey 101 or in a magazine and decided I needed to have it too. My Dad had no problem buying me something practical and knew I’d take care of it. I’m almost positive this suitcase is still somewhere at our house! This thought a few weeks ago led me into a deep dive of the brand. I was trying to find a photo of the suitcase when I started shopping for old board shorts. I’m excited to wear these this summer and remember those fun childhood memories and the happiness the brand brought me all those years ago.

   

8. Intersections Podcast feat. Elaine Agather

   I listened to Elaine Agather’s conversation on the Intersections podcast and found it incredibly inspiring. As someone who grew up in Fort Worth and attended both high school and college there, I’ve always admired seeing women from my hometown achieve extraordinary success on a national stage. Elaine built a remarkable career in finance, an industry historically dominated by men, while earning a reputation for leadership, integrity and relationship building. What I found most compelling was not just her professional success, but the way she speaks about people, community and long-term relationships. She’s a reminder that ambition and kindness are not mutually exclusive and that some of the most influential people lead with both strength and grace. She’s currently the Global Vice Chair at JP Morgan Private Bank and has gone through 11 mergers. Listen to her interview here.

9. Bumper Stickers

   Perhaps it's the Americana in me, but I’m fascinated by bumper stickers. The funny ones, the political ones and the really weird ones. I wonder what possessing people to put them on their cars? Here are a few good ones…lol!

   

10. Becoming Less Impressed

    The older I get, the less impressed I am by titles, status and appearances. What stands out now is character, consistency, generosity and curiosity. It’s one of the most freeing shifts I’ve experienced and one I hope continues with age.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel will always be one of my favorites to source, especially his collections from the 1980s and 1990s. And when I think about Lagerfeld’s Chanel, I think of his muse: supermodel Claudia Schiffer.

Schiffer was only 17 years old when she was discovered by the CEO of Metropolitan Models at a nightclub in Dusseldorf, Germany. She signed with the modeling agency, and her career skyrocketed quickly; she landed an Elle cover and a 1989 Guess campaign, which marked her true break into modeling.

Though she modeled for many major fashion houses, including Valentino, Versace, and Yves Saint Laurent, she is probably best known for, and associated with, Chanel.

Schiffer’s relationship with Chanel began early in her career. Lagerfeld saw her on the cover of U.K. Vogue in 1989 and was captivated by her beauty. “Before I knew it, I was being fitted for his new collection, and then the next day, I found myself driving to Deauville to shoot my first Chanel campaign, photographed by Karl,” Schiffer said in a 2020 Harper’s Bazaar piece.

Schiffer became the new face of Chanel in ad campaigns first, and then she took on the catwalk. Throughout the ’90s she frequently opened and closed Chanel runway shows and served as the coveted “Chanel haute couture bride.”

The relationship between Karl Lagerfeld and Claudia Schiffer was special and symbiotic. They thrived on each other’s energy and passion, and they became lifelong friends up until Lagerfeld’s passing. In a June 2021 interview with British Vogue, Schiffer said: “Karl was my magic dust … He transformed me from a shy German girl into a supermodel.”

Her easy ’90s looks, on and off the catwalk, resonate to this day. There is a effortlessness to her, not unlike Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, whether she’s walking down the street or on the runway, attending award shows or vacationing in Europe.

I love this look she wore in Monaco in 1994. In these photos, her style is the epitome of a ’90s Chanel “It” girl: the classic pink tweed dress layered over a white tee paired with brown leather boots. Timeless, layered, and polished with a slight edge.

I was lucky enough to find this special Chanel dress in a different colorway. It was so fun to channel this look and put my own spin on it with the addition of my blue Chanel boots.

Beyond her beauty, style, and her storied modeling and acting career, Schiffer is also an author and devoted philanthropist who is passionate about eradicating poverty and supporting child health and education around the world. This depth sets her apart, revealing a legacy that will be defined not just by beauty, but by purpose.

Margaretha Ley was a trained tailor, seamstress, and designer, as well as a model for Christian Dior and Jacques Fath. She founded Escada in 1978 in Munich, Germany, with her husband, Wolfgang. They named the brand Escada after a racehorse, supposedly because they thought it would bring good luck to their new endeavor.

As chief designer of Escada, Margaretha created bold, feminine, and luxurious clothes. She incorporated bright colors and custom, whimsical patterns, everything from abstract geometric shapes to butterflies, clocks, and dice.

I grew up admiring my mom as she wore fun Escada butterfly-patterned pieces, and I’m so happy to share that we have a two-piece set available in the Vintage Grace archive.

Escada has evolved and reinvented itself over its long history, but the height of the house’s success was the 1980s and early 1990s, up until Margaretha’s death in 1992. One of her most prominent clients was Princess Diana, who wore structured Escada blazers, bright skirt suits, embellished denim, and a now-iconic plaid coat.

There is a happiness to Escada clothing, and you can see, and feel, the quality of the fabrics, which are often silk, cashmere, mohair, and other types of wool.

I love collecting vintage Escada, and one of my most prized pieces is a buttery brown leather jacket with tassels along the back. It belonged to my mother, and I have vivid memories of her wearing it when I was a child. When my mom carried me in her arms, I’d reach back and play with the tassels.

A personal story about the jacket: There are actually tear stains on the back from a time I was upset and being consoled in my mom’s arms. Rather than viewing the stains as an imperfection, I think they are a cute and special part of the jacket. It’s a reminder that clothes are meant to be lived in, and when we let go of being too precious about pieces, we gain memories and stories that get passed down.

But there are plenty of other remarkable bags from this era that have slipped under the radar, at least for now. Below are three that I own, love, and continue to wear, as well as links to shop them secondhand. (Often at a fraction of the price of other sought-after bags from this era!)

Celine Nano Luggage Tote

The now-iconic Celine Luggage line debuted in 2010 under Phoebe Philo. These structured bags have an instantly identifiable design: a narrow base, winged side panels, stiff top handle, and a long strap.

The Nano Luggage Tote is the smallest size in the line, and I love its versatility. It is small and chic while still functional, thanks to the front pocket and zipper closure. It comes in so many colorways, including bright, color-blocked versions that are perfect for summer.

I still love mine and think it is a great investment, particularly because the Phoebe Philo-era of Celine is, rightfully, so revered.

Chloé Marcie Bag

The Chloé Marcie bag debuted in 2010 under creative director Hannah MacGibbon and instantly became an “It-Girl” bag.

The Marcie has artistic and bohemian details, including wrapped leather handles, pronounced stitching, and contrasting hardware. I love that it is understated luxe, thanks to its subdued embossed logo. The bag is functional and relaxed, and the leather only gets better with age.

I got my Marcie right when it was released, and it’s been with me through so much. It holds a special place in my heart because I got it with my dad on one of my very first trips to New York.

Proenza Schouler PS1

The PS1 bag was first released in 2008 by Proenza Schouler founders Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. I love the tension of this bag: a satchel messenger that feels both masculine and feminine, slouchy and grungy yet practical and well-designed.

In a 2008 Vogue article, Hernandez described the PS1 as the “anti-It” bag because of its rebuke of early-2000s logomania and its utilitarian design. But this “anti-It” bag conversely became trendy and popular. The PS1 was worn by Serena Van Der Woodsen on Gossip Girl and seen on celebrities from all walks of life, including the Olsen twins, Chloë Sevigny, Alanis Morissette, and Reese Witherspoon.

The PS1 is definitely an if-you-know-you-know bag, and it stands the test of time.

I love to revisit these shows, which were energetic and full of love and joy. To open them and set the tone, Kelly often spray-painted a heart on the backdrop of the runway.

He also left behind handwritten “love lists” for his guests, which were earnest notes about the people and objects he adored.

It was Kelly’s love lists that inspired my very own Love List series, where I celebrate the things that speak to me. There is no specific theme to these lists; they are just a collection of pieces, places, moments, and little obsessions that bring me joy, and hopefully bring joy to someone else.

Kelly was also a trailblazer in the fashion industry. In 1988, he became the first American designer and the first Black designer to be admitted into the prestigious FrenchChambre Syndicale, which speaks to the power and originality of his vision. It opened the door for him to display his talent next to the likes of Chanel, Christian Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent.

His designs embody the best of ’80s fashion: vibrant colors, powerful silhouettes, and whimsical patterns and embellishments. And they are also imbued with deep meaning: Born during the Jim Crow era in rural Mississippi, Kelly reclaimed offensive iconography by embedding them into his creations in subversive ways. He fought hate in his art with humor, joy, and love.

Another reason I admire Patrick Kelly: he told stories through his clothing. His use of buttons as decorative embellishments, for instance, pays homage to his grandmother. When Kelly was a child, his grandmother would replace missing buttons on his clothes with whatever she had on hand, creating a charmingly mismatched appearance. Across his collections, Kelly incorporated countless buttons of all different colors and sizes. It’s incredible to think that the memory of his grandmother is literally stitched into his work.

I am happy to share that there is an archival 1986 Kelly piece featuring buttons available in the Vintage Grace archive. It is a structured red jacket, and its gleaming gold-tone buttons are embossed with the fleur-de-lis.

Like the buttons, Kelly often included bows in his designs, which added a playful aesthetic that similarly recalled Kelly’s youth, his grandmother, and Southern African American culture. I was fortunate to find one of Kelly’s bow-forward pieces: a Fall 1989 black dress. It’s a timeless silhouette, and the colorful little bows add a bit of whimsy.

These pieces are not only collectible; they are also still so fashionable today. As archival fashion becomes more prevalent among celebrities, it’s amazing to see Kelly’s designs in the spotlight. Last year, Law Roach styled Zendaya in a red-and-black sequin gown with feathered coat for a Met Gala afterparty. Miley Cyrus wore Kelly’s iconic Eiffel-Tower-button dress from Fall 1989, fittingly in Paris, to promote her new album. And Beyonce wore a black dress with large gold buttons from the same collection.

Though Kelly’s time on earth was tragically cut short, his impact lives on. As André Leon Talley once said, “Patrick Kelly, in his short thirty-five years, lived to be the only Black fashion designer to turn Paris upside down, inside out, on its venerable fashion shoulders. His meteoric rise in the world of ready-to-wear fashion, and his couture collections, have earned him a significant place in fashion history.”

It’s an honor to celebrate this extraordinary designer and his unparalleled work. He made fashion feel fun, and that spirit is something I always want to carry with me.

The book is a delightful exploration of rare and precious couture and Galloway’s influences: Indian art, Asian textiles, and 1960s French design innovation.

CBK: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy: A Life in Fashion

Filled with stunning photography, including numerous portraits of McFadden herself, the book is both beautiful and inspiring.

For me, many of the haute couture shows last week did just that. I was especially drawn to Christian Dior and Chanel, two houses whose identities and histories are inextricable from the very essence of couture.

Below, I’m sharing some of my favorite looks from their Spring/Summer 2026 collections alongside highlights from iconic past shows, ones that illustrate the evolving character of this longstanding tradition.

Christian Dior

As I wrote about in my most recent edition of the Love List, I am excited about Jonathan Anderson leading the House of Dior. Dior is built on romance and history, and his interpretation honors that while feeling fresh.

Anderson’s signature whimsy was on full display last week for his debut haute couture collection for the house, as was the elegance Dior is known for. Nature was the through line: fluffy hydrangea earrings covered models’ entire ears, bags were wrapped with realistic vegetation and the tops of shoes were draped with mini gardens.

Here were some of my favorite looks:

In a preview for the show, Anderson told Vogue he considers John Galliano to be synonymous with the modern-day Dior brand, something many people would agree on. Leading up to the show, Galliano gave Anderson one piece of advice: “The more you love the brand, the more it will give you back.”

Galliano clearly loved the brand, which is illustrated by the care and level of thought he put into his runway shows, which were theatrical, sometimes controversial, and always memorable. One of his most-revered couture shows is Spring/Summer 1999, which paid homage to the surrealist movement. But the looks were still grounded, well-balanced and sophisticated: angular hats, tailored sets and ethereal gowns, with hints of surrealism popping up in embellishments and patterns.

Though Galliano’s time at the helm is a defining period in the house’s history, the Dior New Look Era, from the late 1940s to the 1950s, is foundational to the modern couture movement. Started by Christian Dior himself in 1947, the New Look celebrated feminine silhouettes and a return to opulence post-war.

I was fortunate to find something from the Dior New Look era: an exquisite 1950s Dior haute couture three-piece skirt suit, which is available in the Vintage Grace archive. The details in the buttons and gold fabric are exemplary of Dior craftwork.

Chanel

Matthieu Blazy’s debut haute couture show for Chanel was dreamlike, with rich textures, hues and fabrics, as well as towering mushrooms and pink weeping willows that transformed the Grand Palais into a fairytale.

Blazy told Vogue that he was inspired by a haiku about a bird and mushroom when he created this collection. That inspiration is ever-present in his designs. There were textured mushroom embellishments and myriad bird feathers, both real and fabricated, which adorned necklines, hems, cuffs and even the entirety of a hooded sweater.

Here are a few looks and details that stood out to me:

Even with the fantasy motif, the collection is highly wearable, which places it well within Chanel’s history. Karl Lagerfeld frequently transformed the runway into an otherworldly backdrop, yet his haute couture collections for Chanel celebrated and played with the house’s classic tweed, suit construction and pearls.

Lagerfeld’s first haute couture show, Spring/Summer 1983, is timeless, with meaningful details that include repurposed Chanel jewelry from the late-1930s. He both honored and modernized classic skirt suits by giving them long, sleek lines. During an interview with WWD on the collection, Lagerfeld said, “It’s very Chanel, no?”

Another couture collection from Lagerfeld’s tenure that I love is Spring/Summer 1992, where iconic ’90s supermodels wore a mix of tulle, tweed, and chains, as well as theatrical feather headpieces.

Chanel will always be my favorite. I’m happy to share that there is a special Chanel haute couture skirt suit available in the Vintage Grace archive, with impeccable details (including perfume-bottle buttons!) that embed the house’s storied history into the garment itself.

5. R A W Fountain Pen - Perfect for those who have it all (or perhaps just love the color pink). This is an ABASK exclusive product that’s a perfect pop of color and encourages you to put the phone down and put the pen to paper instead.

6. Choosing Keeping Notebook - I was gifted one of these at an ABASK event and absolutely love the quality of this notebook. The colors are fun, it’s well made and the paper is thick (a major plus!).

7. Bottega Veneta Personalized Playing Cards - Obsessed with these! They perfect for travel, sitting on a coffee table or brightening up a drawer. I love that you can personalize the leather case for an extra special touch.

8. Alexandra Llewellyn Tulip Backgammon Board - Have you ever seen a more beautiful travel set? I haven’t. Even if I didn’t play the game, I would want to buy this :)

   

9. Vintage Return to Tiffany & Co. Cuff - This is such a fun piece of Tiffany jewelry that I’d love to be wearing everyday. It reminds me of the early 2000’s but can totally be rocked and enjoyed today (and years to come).

10. Vintage Chanel Earrings - I’m simply in love with this pair of earrings. They don’t scream Chanel and they exude the perfect amount of femininity and sweetness.

11. Vintage Grace x Don’t Let Disco - In case you didn’t catch my collaboration with Don’t Let Disco last summer, there are still a few pieces left of our thoughtfully created necklaces. Made from vintage scarves from Vintage Grace and beads from DLD, they are wearable, fun and I bet you won’t show up to the party with anyone else wearing one!

12. Vintage Tiffany & Co. Heart Pearl Pin - If I had to pick a favorite item on the list, I think this would be it! A piece of jewelry that will always be wearable and become a treasure to be passed on to the next generation with love.

    

13. Le Labo Cade 23 - I recently rediscovered this scent after many years of ignoring Le Labo once everyone started wearing Santal 33. This particular scent is the closest to the Gramercy Park Hotel scent they used to have flowing in the lobby, Rose Bar, etc. You’d walk into the lobby smelling (and seeing) the delicious candles burning… the good ole days.

14. House & Parties Caviar Serving Set - This serving set was gifted to me over the holidays and it’s the most fun addition to my apartment. I love the pop of color and the chicness of the hand blown pieces.

15. Manolo Blahnik Slingback Pumps - I had to include a shoe because what girl doesn’t love a killer pump? These give off a vintage vibe but are from MB’s newest collection. It’s the perfect pink that acts like a neutral while the silhouette is timeless and comfortable.

16. Edie Parker Personalized Tray - I’ve been giving these as gifts for years now and they stay high on my list. Not only is it fun for me to personalize them for others, but whoever receives one is always happy to get a thoughtful and unique gift.

    

17. Hermes Pink Bandana Cashmere Scarf - You can never have too many of the cashmere Hermes shawls and I especially love the pink bandana one here. Hoping I get one myself… ;)

18. Bombas Pink Socks - I used to be an Amazon sock girl, but made the switch to “designer” socks and am now hooked on Bombas. I love this style and just ordered myself this pink pair.

1. Wrangler Jeans

   I believe I’ve found the perfect pair of jeans…and they are under $100! Last November, I was visiting home in Colorado and my Dad took me to our local farm supply store, Murdoch’s, and while he was initially there for some sort of tools, we wandered over to the clothing department where I found the holy grail pair of jeans. When I tell you I have 50 pairs of jeans, I’m not kidding. But there is not one pair that I’m truly in love with so to find a pair that checks all the boxes is quite exciting! The Wrangler High Rise Boot Cut runs true to size and has length options which I love. They are super flattering and have the perfect amount of flare that work perfectly with a variety of shoes, my favorite being cowboy boots. 2. Vintage Tiffany Homeware

   I’m always searching for pretty and unique homeware and I recently purchased a set of vintage Tiffany & Co ceramic mugs. My mom started her collection back in the 80’s so I’ve always kept my eye on their vintage offerings for my own home. Naturally, I was drawn to these given their wildflower print. There are so many options on eBay, etc. It’s such a chic (and sustainable) way to add something special to your homeware collection.

   

3. Swapping Sneakers for Boots

   This has been a great switch up for me as I run around the city and on my travels. I have been an avid sneakers wearer with dresses, jeans and even on travel days. While they’re easy to throw on, I feel so much put together when I intentionally put on a great pair of boots with my outfit.

   

4. Christian Dior by Jonathan Anderson

   With all of the shake up in the fashion world, I am most excited about Jonathan Anderson taking the lead at the House of Dior. He makes fashion feel like culture, not just a product. Dior is a house built on romance and history and I can’t think of anyone better to bring back that spirit in a way that feels fresh.. It feels like the kind of appointment that could bring real meaning back to the runway and I’ll be watching closely. His SS26 Haute Couture debut this week was a smashing hit. 5. Vintage Find of the Month: Leather Ralph Lauren Shirt

   You know I’m a Ralph Lauren lover, so when I saw this fantastic piece on TRR I had to snag it. I’ve been noticing the prices have increased on TRR so I haven’t been browsing there as much as I used to, but I did find this piece for under $500 and I’m happy to own it. The leather is perfectly worn in (thanks to age and its previous owner) and happens to fit me like a glove. Here’s my TikTok where I unbox it and try it on. I hope you love it as much as I do!

6. Mellerio Jewelry Box

   This is the ultimate, ultimate wish list item. I can’t remember how I stumbled on it initially, but when I went to the Bergdorf Goodman holiday party I got to see this exquisite display in real life and let me tell you the little girl in me was squirming! Jewelry brand Mellerio created the most stunning jewelry boxes housed with ten Color Queen rings from their high jewelry collection. So what’s better than ten rings? Ten rings plus a beautiful handmade box made of butterflies and encrusted with different stones. I am obsessed! 7. Space Saving Bags for Travel

   This is a non-luxury item for a luxury and carefree travel experience. I’m on the go more than I’d like to admit and the only thing that allows me to get through traveling is doing carry on only as much as possible. For a 2-3 night stay, it is no problem to pack lightly but when I get to the 4+ night stay, I have to get creative. That’s where the space saving bags come in: I pack pajamas, workout gear, intimates, etc and smash it down knowing that a wrinkle here or there won’t hurt me. This allows me to pack exactly what I need and not worry about busting out of my trusted carry on ;) Here’s the exact bag I like to use.

8. Barefoot Dreams Blanket

   As I was thinking about things I use on a daily basis that make a big difference, I couldn’t help but mention my Barefoot Dreams blankets. I have three of my own and am always encouraging others to buy them for their homes. They are absolutely the best blankets in the world: comfy, cozy and so soft. You can find my favorite one here.

9. Herbal Immune Support Drops

   Like most people, I’ve been battling some sort of a cold off since November. I constantly struggle with sinus issues and drainage that affect how I’m feeling so much. I get an organic smoothie every day from my local juice guy on Mulberry Street and he recommended these drops to me. They are herbal and very potent, but have really helped me when I’m not in the mood to take a prescription medication. I highly recommend it!

   

   1. Archival Eyewear

      I’ve always been obsessed with vintage eyewear, but have been drawn to them more than ever lately. The frames that feel less like accessories and more like fashion artifacts. I love designers like Kieselstein-Cord and early Jean Paul Gaultier because they understood eyewear as sculpture and identity. The hardware, the proportions…its wearable design history! Spring Summer 2003 Ralph Lauren Patchwork Gown

I was thrilled to find this holy-grail Ralph Lauren gown from the Spring/Summer 2003 collection. The cream color and luxurious fabric read classic bride from afar, but up close, the patchwork adds nostalgia, bohemia and a hint of Americana. It’s one of those rare dresses that is chic and polished but also flowy and effortless, thanks to the ruching, drop waist and baby train. The dress is a near match to Runway Look 51, and Sabrina Carpenter wore a variation of it recently to accept an award from Variety.

Thierry Mugler always nails a woman’s silhouette, and this tailored, bright-white pantsuit is no exception. The look is sophisticated and modern, offering an interesting spin on a bridal ensemble. This sweet and feminine Dolce & Gabbana coat dress is from the early 2000s, but the doily lace detailing gives it an old-world feel. I love the versatility of this piece; it’s slightly nostalgic and innocent while still being completely wearable. Featuring intricate embroidery and lace, a round-edge collar, and snap-button closure, the dress is the embodiment of a garden or countryside wedding in Provence or Tuscany. Like the Ralph Lauren gown, I’m happy to share that this Dolce & Gabbana piece found its new home.

Cruise 2000 Chanel Two-Piece Set

This Chanel two-piece set, from the Cruise 2000 collection, is timeless, chic and impossibly cool. In addition to the top’s dramatic length, the stand-out detail is the center opening that runs from the waist down, revealing palazzo-style trousers that move with fluidity. The set’s architectural construction creates a statuesque silhouette, one that is reminiscent of Solange Knowles’ widely publicized column wedding dress with cape.

I’m delighted to share the latest addition to the Bridal Series: Runway Look 25 from Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2007 collection. This unique two-piece set is not only elegant and sophisticated; it also exudes power and confidence. Featuring luxurious silk jacquard fabric, a sleek long-sleeved tunic with a high neck, and fitted trousers, this set makes such a statement for a bride. It’s also very similar to an iconic 1994 look by the incomparable Diane Keaton.

I grew up admiring Carolyn’s poise and personal style, which stands the test of time: crisp-white button-ups and tees, tailored coats, sleek black slip dresses, and true-blue denim jeans. She understood the anatomy of an outfit, how to balance masculine elements with feminine, softness with edge. The value of good tailoring, mixing textures, and paring back accessories.

To me, personal style isn’t just about what you wear. It’s about what you choose to wear, again and again, no matter the year, trend, or season. Carolyn had an intuition for things that worked for her. When she found a military-style Prada coat that spoke to her, she bought it in another color.

My thoughts on fashion versus style

Carolyn’s innate eye served her well in her career. She got her start as a sales assistant at a Calvin Klein store in Massachusetts, until Susan Sokol, then-president of Calvin Klein’s ready-to-wear collections, came into the store. “Up close she was beautiful but self-deprecating, which was unusual and charming. It was also obvious that she had a great sense of style,” said Sokol. “We were looking for someone in the New York office who exemplified Calvin Klein fashion and could handle the special clients in sales. I could tell that she was confident and could hold her own.”

She thrived in the role and ultimately became director of publicity, where she helped exalt Calvin Klein as a dominant brand in the 1990s. Calvin Klein trusted her and valued her opinion.

She also exuded the brand’s aesthetic. “There couldn’t be better advertising for the brand than having Carolyn wear a Calvin Klein ready-to-wear dress, making it hers with her barely there accessorizing,” wrote CBK: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy: A Life in Fashion author Sunita Kumar Nair.

Though Carolyn’s style is certainly timeless, being able to place it within a certain era heightens our appreciation of it. She isn’t merely emblematic of ’90s minimalism; she helped write the rules. “Minimalism was already happening with the designers, but she really made it real and believable with her translation,” said Fern Mallis, former executive director of the CFDA.

Carolyn also helped define “quiet luxury” before it had a name, prioritizing logo-less pieces in neutral colors and luxurious fabrics. “She is not a label girl,” Karl Lagerfeld said in a July 1999 piece in WWD. Supposedly Carolyn went as far as to ask Prada store staff to remove the signature label from a ski outfit she had purchased, New York magazine reported.

Just because she gravitated toward neutral and discrete garments doesn’t mean she always shied from color and patterns. She wore them less, which may have amplified their impact. Photos of Carolyn in pieces like her red Prada coat, green-checked Valentino coat, and colorful Chanel dress with camellia flowers are memorable and widespread. In 2022, I was lucky enough to find a similar Chanel dress from the same 1996 Resort collection, which holds a special place in my wardrobe. It was so fun recreating her look, down to the breezy hair, black slingbacks, and patent leather bag.

One of Carolyn’s most enduring style moments is her wedding dress. Designed by Narciso Rodriguez, the gown was a pearly white silk slip with a cowl neckline.

“She literally changed the bridal industry as she walked down those church steps,” said CFDA’s Mallis. “Everyone wore slip dresses then, but to make it your wedding dress? In it she wasn’t showy in her body, but she was still sexy and seductive. She did that. She dared you to do that. That is her legacy.”

And it hung off her body perfectly, like everything she wore. In fact, Carolyn’s impact as a muse is less what clothes she wore and more how she wore them.She wasn’t chasing perfection, often leaving her hair loose and natural or wearing sneakers during a time when that was not popular. She was authentically her. This is what stands out to me about Carolyn: she wore her clothes with an innate sense of ease. She was magically effortless and confident.

But behind that confidence, and those iconic rounded sunglasses, was someone navigating pressure, scrutiny, and a life in the limelight she didn’t particularly want. She was a frequent target of the paparazzi, and in the years leading up to her tragic death, she was seen as mysterious.

She still is, which may add even more to her allure. As Wes Gordon, creative director of Carolina Herrera, has distilled, “This idea, this woman that I never knew beyond pictures and a dream, is my muse, always. A brilliant and complex woman passionately living her life. And maybe that is the best way for a muse to be? Only the dream, untouched by the reality.”

1. Hermès 1967 Réédition Coat

This fall, Hermès released a stunning collection of archival reissues. Pieces revived from past creative directors dating back decades. When I first saw the lineup, I naturally searched for the obvious names (JPG! Margiela!) but those styles disappeared almost instantly. That’s when I found her: a remarkable coat originally designed in 1967. The rich mustard yellow is unlike anything in my closet, and the structure feels both historic and fresh. I’m completely in love with it and already know it’ll be cherished for years. A perfect example of a brand honoring its past while keeping it beautifully modern.

2. Kate McLeod Sleep Stone

I was so luckily gifted this from a friend and thought, “what the heck?” because I had truly never seen lotion in a solid form. When it comes to beauty products, I am a creature of habit and stick to the usual lineup consisting of lotions and potions I started using in high school. Whenever I venture out, I always end up right back where I started, with newly acquired bottles of barely used product sitting around. Although I hesitated to try the new product, I went for it out of intrigue and was pleasantly surprised when I felt the luscious ingredients on my skin. It is a blend of relaxing essential oils in a soft butter consistency that melts into your freshly showered body. Delicious. 3. Key West, Florida…yes, really!

How is it possible I only visited Key West for the first time this year? It is not super glamorous (sorry!) but it is absolutely bursting with character. Roosters walk the streets like they own them, everyone has a relaxed and cheerful attitude, and the town is rich in history. Lilly Pulitzer invited me to celebrate their SS26 collection, and the setting could not have been more perfect. We stayed at Casa Marina, had dinner at Ernest Hemingway’s home and explored so many unique spots around the island. My top recommendations: visit the six-toed cats at the Hemingway Home, step inside the Butterfly Pavilion for a moment of magic, and get a slice of the most wonderful key lime pie at Moon Dog Cafe. And play Jimmy Buffett the entire time for the full effect.

4. My Poshmarked Proenza Schouler PS1 Bag

The PS1 launched in 2008 and instantly became the cool-girl bag. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen carried it, Chloe Sevigny carried it, and even Blair Waldorf wore it on Gossip Girl. It stayed popular for so long because of its understated luxury and school-satchel feel. I bought mine in college on Poshmark (my first purchase on the platform), a bold royal blue version that felt like such a moment. Like most bags, it rotated out of my closet once something newer caught my attention, but I never sold it. During a recent closet clean-out, I pulled it out again and fell in love with it the way I did years ago. Maybe the PS1 is coming back, maybe it is not. Either way, it has been so fun to carry it again and reconnect with the fashion era that shaped the beginning of my personal style

5. Mom & Dad

They could be on every list. As this year comes to a close, I have felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for them. I would not be where I am today without their support, their love and their friendship. My relationship with my parents has luckily always stayed consistent and strong. I am thankful to continue growing with them and to feel them cheering me on, offering a shoulder when I need one, or simply calling to say hello and I love you.

6. My New Love For Blood Marys

Random? Possibly! But I have recently unlocked a new level of appreciation for Bloody Marys. Not only have I tried them before, I actively disliked them. Then I had one made with Zing Zang mix about a month ago and everything changed. It was salty, spicy, balanced and exactly what I did not know I wanted. If you want to elevate it, add a splash of Topo Chico and a few drops of Tabasco. I have learned that every restaurant has its own secret mix, and they can be wildly different from place to place, but it has been fun to order them and compare. A new little ritual.

7. Ralph Lauren Christmas Playlist

While this is not an official playlist made by Ralph Lauren, I discovered it a few years ago and it has become a constant part of my Christmas season. The stores are always decorated so beautifully this time of year and the music is just as thoughtful. Someone curated a set of songs that perfectly capture the mood felt in the stores. Think Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and a warm, classic Christmas spirit. It puts me in the best mood every time. Find the playlist here.

8. Favorite Recent Vintage Find: Escada Suit

If you know me, you know I have inherited many treasures from my mom. She has preserved her wardrobe so beautifully, and I am very lucky she shares so much of it with me. There is one Escada suit of hers that she still wears and is not ready to part with, and honestly I understand why. It is perfect. Recently I came across the exact same embellished pantsuit in my size while scrolling, and I immediately texted her. Her response was simple: SNAG IT. So I did. Now we have a matching moment, and I cannot wait to wear mine!

9. Tree Ornaments

Three years ago I started buying a real Christmas tree for my apartment, and it has become one of my favorite traditions. There is something ceremonial about choosing it, bringing it home, caring for it and decorating it. I have been given ornaments since childhood with the idea that I would use them one day when I had a tree of my own. Now I do, and seeing them every day brings me so much joy. Besides the sentimental ones, my favorites are the Bergdorf Goodman girls. They are glamorous, playful and feel very New York…very Vintage Grace!

10. Kirsten Dunst’s Dragonfly At The Premiere Of Drop Dead Gorgeous

This image has been stuck in my mind for weeks. It is a reminder of what red carpet dressing used to be: fun, creative, personal and not overly polished. Back when celebrities had personal style. Kirsten Dunst is forever an icon for this moment. If I can make one fashion wish for 2026, it is for more authentic carpet looks… maybe even something inspired by this

11. Birthday!!

I celebrated my birthday during the first week of December. Some people think it is a tough month for a birthday, but I feel the opposite. It falls right after Thanksgiving and just before the holiday rush, which makes it feel festive without being overwhelming. I also love that it happens at the end of the year. As I reflect on the year’s highs and lows, it feels special to close out both the year and another age at the same time. This year was full of good moments and meaningful growth. What It Really Means to Have an Archive

I have always believed clothing holds stories. Garments are not simply worn, but lived in, absorbing the energy, ambition, romance and identity of the women who once chose them. And while the world often places “vintage collection” and “archive” side by side, they are not the same thing.

The difference is everything.

A Vintage Collection vs An Archive

A vintage collection is curated with taste. It contains things that are discovered, chosen and treasured. Anyone can collect. It is emotional and joyful and rooted in instinct.

A fashion archive is something deeper. It is not simply owned. It is preserved, studied, catalogued and safeguarded not only for personal enjoyment but for posterity. It exists to teach, to reference and to honor craftsmanship and legacy.

If a collection is a treasure chest, an archive is a time capsule. It carries responsibility for what it holds.

The Purpose of an Archive

An archive asks thoughtful questions:

• Why was this piece created?

• Why did it matter then?

• Why must it continue to exist now and in the future?

An archive looks beyond the seasons into:

• the designer’s intention

• the cultural moment behind a silhouette

• the techniques inside the seams

• the life the garment lived and the life still waiting for it

It treats fashion as art and artifact, not as product.

What Makes Vintage Grace an Archive

Vintage Grace did not begin from a desire to sell vintage. It began from a desire to protect it.

I collect with respect. I preserve with intention. I study, document authenticate and honor each piece.

Every garment is researched and catalogued. Corsetry and construction are studied. Labels are verified. Runway references are saved alongside original receipts and tags when available. Often, I hold the story of the woman who wore it first, right beside it. Who was she and why was she wearing this piece?

I am not just sourcing pieces.

I am safeguarding their legacies and dressing the future in them.

An archive is alive. It is a living library. A pulse. A promise.

The Responsibility of Preservation

Archiving means that:

A John Galliano gown still slips like water decades from now. A Chanel tweed jacket still holds its presence and precision. A Ralph Lauren leather coat still carries the romance of the American frontier and the refinement of a Paris runway.

The garments do not just exist. They teach. They remind us that fashion is at its best when it remembers where it came from.

Why It Matters Now

We are living in a time obsessed with the new, yet what feels most compelling right now is what endures. What is meaningful. What has life beyond its season.

Fashion’s future depends on honoring its past. Personal style lives where legacy meets individuality. And archives ensure beauty does not become a whisper.

Vintage Grace is not a collection, but a commitment to history, to craft, to women, to stories that deserve to continue.

To archive is to care. And to care for fashion is to believe in its future as fiercely as its past.

Personalized Notebook from Smythson

There’s no better feeling than opening a fresh Smythson page. Their notebooks make everything—from to-do lists to dream lists—feel instantly more intentional. I’ve been jotting down ideas and memories in mine over the years, but most recently getting into journaling highs and lows, goals and daily emotions. It takes dedication to sit down, disconnect and write but I always feel better afterwards.

My Pink Powder Room

A little sanctuary in blush. I just installed the dreamiest pink wallpaper and it’s transformed the space into something soft, warm and quietly feminine. I can’t wait to hang artwork and watch it come to life. The smallest rooms always seem to hold the most charm!

I am sooo excited to add these to my jewelry rotation. It took me too long to step out of my comfort zone (diamond studs), but I’m happy I am finally here! These earrings are the kind of earrings that feel like drops of happiness and sunshine. They make me smile when I see them and they are the perfect amount of color and sparkle. Proof that joy can really be worn.

This set is pure delight in clothing form. A geometric check that feels like a Palm Beach party. Vintage Lilly is always the most charming and I’ve been collecting it for many years, always eager to find a cute set or unseen print. There’s something about slipping into Lilly that instantly lifts my mood. It’s playful, comfortable and impossibly nostalgic.

This candle feels like it was made for my little world: quirky, sculptural and a touch whimsical in the most grown-up way. The scent reminds me of warm desert air and quiet evenings when everything feels still and golden. I love that it doubles as a little art piece on my coffee table… one of those things that just makes home feel more mine.

The Art of a Business Card

There is something so charming about a beautifully made business card. They are tiny pieces of identity you can hold in your hand and a small but meaningful expression of who you are. I think my love for them started when my Dad made cards for me when I was about 8 years old. It felt like my first real branded moment. Now I keep them in my wallet… my Vintage Grace cards and this original Western one. It reminds me that style, legacy and storytelling can live in the smallest details!

Madison Avenue Shopping

There is something so special about strolling up Madison Avenue and stepping inside the most beautiful heritage boutiques. I love letting myself move slowly… studying fabrics, admiring tailoring and soaking in the quiet elegance of each space. My favorite stop recently was St. John, where I stood in front of their wall of tweed spools in complete awe. All that color and texture felt like a love letter to craftsmanship and reminded me why I will always be inspired by brands with real roots and real story.

I always find that when I pay attention to what I am loving, I start to see myself a little more clearly. What I am drawn to, what brings me peace, what sparks creativity. It is a gentle way of checking in, of remembering what matters, of building a life with intention and beauty woven through it.

These are the words that came out of my mentor Lisa’s mouth when we were discussing last week’s fashion shows.

Her words have been echoing in my mind ever since. Maybe because this season’s shows made me feel the same way: that fashion, for all its brilliance, is fleeting, while style is something that lingers.

Fashion moves fast. It’s designed to. It thrives on the promise of new. But style is slower. It’s intuitive. It’s the quiet pull toward things that feel like you, no matter the year, the trend, or the season.

Watching the collections this month, many of them rooted in heritage and memory, I couldn’t help but think how personal style works the same way. Designers revisited archives, reinterpreting their own histories. The strongest collections weren’t reinventing the wheel; they were refining what already worked. That’s what true style is: editing, not reinventing.

What feels different now is how uniform fashion has become. Everyone looks good, but they also look the same. The same silhouettes, the same handbags, the same quiet-luxury palette repeated across every feed. Somewhere along the way, individuality got lost in the algorithm. Style, though, doesn’t need validation. It doesn’t exist for the scroll. It’s personal, sometimes imperfect, always yours.

When I buy vintage, it isn’t just for the label or the rarity. It’s because each piece carries a story that transcends its time. A well-cut jacket from the 1980s still feels modern because good design endures. A bias-cut silk dress still moves the same way it did decades ago. These things were made with intention, and intention never goes out of style.

Fashion tells us what’s happening now. Style tells us who we are: what we return to, what we hold onto, what we can’t forget. The more I collect, the more I realize that what draws me in isn’t the trend, but the trace of character left behind—the craftsmanship, the history, the feeling that someone before me loved it too.

Fashion is the conversation; style is the conviction. And maybe that’s why I’ve always been drawn to vintage. It reminds me that style doesn’t start in a season. It starts in a sense of self.

That’s what Vintage Grace was built on: style with memory. Pieces that have lived before, that carry stories worth continuing. Because true style isn’t about being first to wear something new. It’s about being the only one to wear it like you.

There’s a certain magic in the objects and ideas that quietly shape our days—the small luxuries, the inspirations, the threads of memory that stitch themselves into our lives. This month’s Love List is a mix of old-world elegance and personal obsessions: things that remind me to slow down, to notice, to honor beauty in its many forms. From Venetian lamps to Shaker boxes, from the simple act of sewing to the thrill of finding a perfectly worn Ralph Lauren sweater, these are the pieces currently living rent free in my mind.

1. Vintage Gloves

   The kind you slip on and suddenly feel like you belong in a Slim Aarons photograph. I’ve been drawn to them lately not only for their elegance but also for the stories they carry, every pair feels like it once attended a party worth remembering.

   

2. D. Porthault Linens

   I love the unapologetic charm of their florals and whimsical prints. They make daily life feel decadent, like waking up in Paris even if you’re just in New York on a Tuesday morning. Inspired by the guest room I stayed in at Lisa Pomerantz’s Hamptons house, I purchased a set with the same sweet pea design that she has!

   

3. Ralph Lauren Vintage Wool Sweaters

   There’s something about the weight of an old wool RL sweater—it feels broken in, like it’s lived on both a ranch and in a Fifth Avenue apartment. I reach for them when I want to feel grounded yet polished.

   

4. Sewing 101

   Lately, I’ve been craving the ritual of handwork. Even learning a simple stitch makes me feel connected to generations of women before me who mended, made, and created with their own hands. I’ve been taking weekly lessons to refresh my skills and it’s been slow, meditative and deeply satisfying.

5. Sonia Louise Davis

   Her work moves between jazz, poetry, and visual art in a way that feels alive. I admire the way she refuses to be confined to one medium—it’s a reminder to let creativity spill over into every part of life. I very luckily welcomed this piece into my home last week with the help and guidance of Jeffrey Deitch gallery director, Alia Dahl.

   

6. Fortuny Lighting

   There is a moodiness to Fortuny lamps that I cannot get enough of. Silk pleats and soft shadows make even the most ordinary room feel cinematic, and I think of Venice every time I see one glowing. What I love most is how they bridge interiors and fashion. Mariano Fortuny began as a textile designer, and the same pleating techniques he used for his iconic Delphos gowns echo in the folds of his lampshades. It is a reminder that great design, whether worn or lived in, always speaks the same language. This is definitely on my wish list!

   

7. Vintage Vivienne Tam

   Her pieces are quirky, collectible and always ahead of their time. I’ve started tucking away Vivienne Tam in my archive because she embodies that perfect mix of playfulness and cultural significance.

   

8. Shaker Boxes

   They’re practical, but also strangely poetic—stackable wooden vessels that feel both humble and sculptural. I like the idea of storing something precious in something so spare. I will slowly be replacing my plastic storage boxes with these.

   

9. Bolo Ties

   Part jewelry, part Western heritage. I love how they can swing between irreverent and elegant depending on what you wear them with. For me, they’re a little nod to Texas that still works in New York.

10. Sewing Box

    Every wardrobe needs one. The small, practical luxury of having needles, threads and scissors neatly organized means you are always prepared for a quick fix. It feels like the kind of quiet domestic grace our grandmothers never went without, and I love the idea of keeping that tradition alive.

1. St. John

Polished but never stiff, St. John has become my quiet go-to. There’s something about the weight of the knits and the ease of the silhouettes that feels both timeless and unexpectedly modern when styled right. Some of my earliest memories shopping are with my mom and grandmother at the St. John store so it’s been fun for my desire of the brand to be reignited. I naturally gravitate towards vintage pieces, but i’ve also been shopping for new, too! Wearing current St. John below…

2. Fashion in the Year 2003

Arguably my favorite year in fashion culture… Fashion in 2003 was defined by low-rise jeans, slinky camis and statement accessories. The early 2000s aesthetic was in full swing, with Juicy Couture tracksuits, trucker hats by Von Dutch and oversized Dior saddle bags making regular appearances on celebrities like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. Tom Ford was nearing the end of his era at Gucci, and his collections that year embraced sensual tailoring and a high-gloss attitude. Denim was everywhere, especially in embellished and distressed forms. On the red carpet, stars gravitated toward metallic fabrics, plunging necklines and body-conscious silhouettes. 2003 captured the bold, playful energy of the Y2K moment, mixing street style with over-the-top glamour.

3. Nantucket Basket Purses

I have a vintage one from 1974 that I love carrying in the summer. Originally crafted by sailors in the 1800s during long whaling voyages, these baskets became a signature of Nantucket craftsmanship. By the mid-20th century, they evolved into handbags, often topped with carved ivory lids and passed down like heirlooms. Mine has a simple wooden clasp and seagull detail on top. One of my favorite pieces to carry in the summer and extremely fun to source.

4. Brand Archival Moments

There’s something magnetic about watching a brand look inward. Lately, more fashion houses are leaning into their own history, not just for inspiration but as a business model. Ralph Lauren has reissued pieces from his iconic 1990s collections and launched a dedicated vintage shop featuring rare archival finds. Gucci, Chanel, and Jean Paul Gaultier have all revived past silhouettes, prints and even full collections, reworking them with a modern lens. It feels like a full-circle moment where the past is not just referenced but revered, repurposed and resold. As someone who lives for a runway deep dive, I’m loving every bit of it.

5. Vintage Fashion Guild

I’ve talked about my love for VFG before! An under-the-radar gem for vintage lovers. It’s part encyclopedia, part detective tool and it’s helped me identify more mystery labels than I can count. If you love a good deep dive, this is your rabbit hole.

6. Fried Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives

The unofficial snack of summer. Salty, rich and completely unnecessary in the best way. I saw this TikTok video on how to make them and I couldn’t resist!

7. J’ADORE Vintage Tee by Vintage Grace

8. Designer Donald Brooks

A designer whose name deserves more airtime. His work in the 60s and 70s had a cinematic drama I find endlessly inspiring. Every piece feels like a character in a movie you want to watch again and again. Brooks is a designer I’ve been trying to source as of late, and I think you should too!

9. Prada Cowboy Boots

Leave it to Prada to make Western boots feel impossibly chic. Equal parts rugged and refined, they’re the kind of shoe that instantly transforms whatever you’re wearing into a moment. From the Fall Winter 2025 runway to my closet, I am so excited to wear these boots forever.

10. Dr Pepper

My summer vice. Cold, fizzy and weirdly comforting. The drink takes me back to my childhood: a cure for headaches and stomach aches or simply a comfort drink perfectly paired with tacos.

Below are a few things I can’t stop thinking about or reaching for lately, with a quick note on why each one made the list.

1. Handwritten thank you notes

There’s something grounding about putting pen to paper. Lately I’ve been reaching for my stationery drawer more often and I love how a thank you note slows you down. It feels gracious and a little bit romantic. My go-to stationary is a monogrammed set from Crane & Co. (Pro tip: make sure you invest in a nice pen, too!)

2. Prince

Specifically Purple Rain on a rainy day, but really anything from his catalog. His energy, his theatricality, his style. It all feels like a masterclass in artistry and self-expression. Another stand out song is Controversy. Someone introduced me to it a few years ago and since then, it’s been a top played track of mine. I love how music can bring back memories of certain moments and times of my life. Bottom line, Prince always puts me in a happy mood!

3. Wired headphones

I’m fully back in my wired headphone era. Less charging, no lag and there’s a comfort in the nostalgia of the cord tangled in my coat pocket or barely draped out of opening of my purse. They make me feel more present and a little less algorithm-controlled.

4. Fresh flowers, especially the smell of sweet peas

I’ve been making it a habit to visit the flower district here in NYC. Whenever available, I always take home sweet peas. The flowers have a sweet meaning to me: my grandmother has an incredible garden in Colorado and her prized flowers are her sweet peas. They only grow for a short period of time in the summer and we’ve spent hours over the years watching them flourish and then hand-cutting them from their vines. When I smell that soft, candy-like scent in my apartment, I’m reminded of the sweet, innocent moments of my childhood and the cherished memories shared with my grandmother.

5. Puzzles

A quiet ritual I didn’t know I needed. It’s been meditative to sit with a puzzle and let time slow down, especially in the evenings when I want to be off my phone. The more tactile my days feel, the better. Currently working on this Slim Aarons puzzle!

6. Isaac Mizrahi

I’ve fallen into a rabbit hole of his ‘90s and early 2000’s collections. The wit, the color, the New Yorkness of it all. It’s fashion that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still feels intentional and sharp. I’ve recently added a few of his exceptional pieces to the Vintage Grace archive…stay tuned!

7. Bob Mackie: From Sketches to Spotlight at the SoHo Grand Gallery

As a lover and collector of one of the great American designers, I had to stop by this new exhibition. The show was a glittery love letter to glamour and showmanship. Seeing his original sketches up close made me feel like I was peeking into someone’s private magic. I left with a renewed appreciation for costume as an art form.

8. Schostal in Rome

A quiet little shop I stumbled into in Rome. Upon meeting the owner, Shirley, I instantly fell in love with what seemed like a store that hasn’t changed since its inception in 1870. Products are stacked on shelves from floor to ceiling. Some in simple, white boxes and others out in the open in an array of colors that will catch your eye. Stocked with elegant basics like classic pajamas, pure cotton tank tops, perfect socks and well-made underwear. Everything felt classic, like it had been there forever. (I went back every day that I was in Rome!).

9. Machiavelli for Women by Stacey Vanek Smith

A current read that’s been on my list for quite some time. A surprisingly empowering book. It reframes power dynamics through the lens of Machiavelli and it’s helped me rethink the way I move through negotiation and ambition. Smart, funny and sharp. Perfectly fitting after a visit to Florence last month, too!

10. Patrick Kelly

The inspiration behind this entire series. I’ve been revisiting his runway shows and interviews and they still feel electric. His work was filled with joy, humor and a deep love for his community. He dressed his clients with intention and playfulness, often adding heart-shaped buttons or handwritten love lists to remind them they were seen and appreciated. His shows felt like celebrations. They were bold, full of energy and completely unforgettable. He was also the first African-American designer to be recognized by the French Chambre Syndicale, which speaks to the power and originality of his vision. He made fashion feel fun, and that spirit is something I always want to carry with me.

To me, personal style isn’t just about what you wear—it’s about what you choose to wear, again and again. It’s the instinctual pairing of jeans and a vintage belt because it just feels right. It’s knowing what colors ground you, what fabrics make you feel most like yourself, what details you reach for no matter what’s trending.

And yet, achieving personal style isn’t a one-time thing—it’s an evolution.

So how do you get there? How do you find that elusive “style” that feels entirely your own?

Here’s what I’ve learned:

1. Start with your gut, not the algorithm.

Before saving another moodboard or copying an outfit you saw online, ask: What do I actually love? What silhouettes do I gravitate toward naturally? What makes me feel powerful, effortless, grounded? Your eye is your greatest asset—trust it.

2. Forget “flattering.” Find what feels like you.

The most stylish people aren’t chasing perfection—they’re leaning into individuality. Maybe it’s an oversized jacket that swallows your frame or vintage boots that have seen better days. If it makes you feel something, it’s probably saying something, too.

3. Mine your past.

Sometimes the clearest map to your personal style is hidden in childhood photos, family heirlooms, or old memories. What did you wear when you felt most like yourself? What did your mom or grandmother wear that still lingers in your mind? Personal style often begins with personal history.

4. Edit ruthlessly.

Style isn’t just about acquiring—it’s about letting go. You don’t need more. You need clarity. The more you remove what doesn’t serve you, the more room you create for the pieces that do.

5. Create a “style language.”

Think in elements, not outfits. Maybe yours includes structured tailoring, vintage denim, a pop of statement jewelry, and a hint of Western. Once you know your vocabulary, building looks becomes second nature.

6. Let it evolve.

Your style should grow with you. It should mirror your life, your ambitions, your rhythm. You’re allowed to change, refine, pare back, or go full drama when the mood strikes. That’s the beauty of it—it’s yours.

Personal style isn’t static. It’s a daily conversation with yourself, a reflection of how you move through the world. It’s what’s left when the trends fade and the noise quiets. And once you find it—or begin to—it becomes one of the most quietly powerful things you own.

I realized my style had found its groove the first time I packed for a trip and didn’t second-guess a single thing in my suitcase.

Every piece felt like me. Not because they matched, or followed some rigid aesthetic, but because they shared a kind of quiet confidence. A pair of worn-in Levi’s I’ve repaired three times. A perfectly tailored YSL jacket I found on Etsy. A Western belt my dad gave me when I was in college. I wasn’t dressing for anyone else—I was dressing with intention, memory, instinct.

That’s when it clicked: personal style isn’t about getting it right. It’s about getting closer to yourself.

And once you do, even just a little, you start to move differently. You stop asking, ‘Does this look good?’ and start asking, ‘Does this feel right?’ That’s when the magic happens.

It’s also why I created Vintage Grace—to build a space where style is more than trend-driven, more than transactional. A place where pieces hold history, personality, and permanence. Because when you find the things that speak to you, you’re not just getting dressed. You’re coming home to yourself.

Here’s what I was up to…

• I feel incredibly lucky to have met and worked with the team at Ralph Lauren. They’re expanding their vintage collection and seasonal drops, and reached out to feature me as both a collector and longtime lover of the brand. We spent two days shooting together, and I can’t wait to share more in May. For now, here’s a preview of what we created—naturally, I’m wearing all RL.

  

• While I love the energy of New York City, I’m a ranch girl at heart. Going to the rodeo has always been a favorite tradition, so I spent a weekend in Texas attending back-to-back nights of the legendary Houston Rodeo. If there’s one thing I’d recommend, it’s going. Long live cowboys (and baby goats).

  

• To top off an already unforgettable month, I joined my family in Scottsdale, AZ to celebrate my dad’s birthday. We spent the week eating, shopping, and soaking up the sun. I made sure to stop by a few of my favorite spots: Vintage by Misty, To Be Continued, Mavericks, Sanctuary Hotel, Legacy Galleries, and The Global Ambassador.

Favorite find of the month…

I remember the debut of Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2014 Paris-Dallas collection like it was yesterday. I was a junior in college when the Paris-based house brought a Western-infused runway show to Dallas—a bold move, and one that felt close to home. I was obsessed with the details: tooled leather, engraved silver, sheriff star buttons, fringe, and Pendleton-inspired fabrics—all woven into the brand’s iconic silhouettes with Karl Lagerfeld’s signature flair.

I was studying abroad in Italy at the time, often walking past the Chanel store and eyeing the collection I couldn’t yet afford. I did buy my mom a silk scarf from it—adorned with cowboy boots. Since then, I’ve kept a close eye on the secondhand market. This month, I finally scored my first Boy Bag from the collection. I can’t wait to style it for years to come—maybe next year at the rodeo?

• Diary of a CEO podcast ft. Jefferson Fisher, a litigation lawyer who breaks down how to communicate more effectively in life, work, and relationships. One standout line? “Never set out to win an argument, because oftentimes when you win an argument, you lose the relationship.” A simple but important reminder—and such a worthwhile listen.

• My dear friend suggested keeping a running note in my phone titled “Good Things Are Happening to Me,” where I write down one positive thing every day. It’s become a great habit and an even better place to revisit when I need a little perspective.

• I’m working on a new section for the Vintage Grace website where I’ll offer a small selection of personal pieces—both vintage and contemporary—for sale. I often wear things once (or not at all) before sending them to a resale company, but I’d love to share them with you all directly instead. Thoughts?
